Recommended Leaf Springs for 4,400 lb Axle Based on Axle Position and Hanger Locations
Question:
What springs go on a Alko 23U, 4,400 lb axle. The trailer came to us with the wrong springs. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
The typical springs for the AL-KO 4,400 axles are one of two lengths. If you have the 25-1/4 inch length, then you will want the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles # e28SR, but if you have the 26 inch springs, you will want the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,500-lb Trailer Axles # e27SR. The width will be the same so you will want to determine the length based on the position of the axle using dimension A and D in the attached photos and the axle position based on the hanger locations. I've attached articles to assist as well as video reviews.

I have two 4400 LB axels on my fifthwheel. They currently have 4 leaf springs, with 26 inches between eyes. The springs on it now are flat. There is no arc to them. Will these 6 leaf springs maintain an arc and increase the height of my trailer? I have read that some people utilize this method to lift a trailer, but I wasn't sure if I would need to go to a stiffer spring.
